Green Mountain Power Offers Discount to Low-Income Customers

Green Mountain Power is offering a new pilot program, called Energy Support, to help low-income customers with their electric bills. The program offers a 25 percent discount to customers whose income is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Eligibility varies by size of family, but would typically include a family of four with an income of $41,300.

The pilot program will run for approximately three years, or until the money set aside for it has been spent. We know paying bills can be quite a struggle for people with lower incomes, and we hope the discount on electricity will relieve some of the burden.

If you believe you qualify for the discount, you should contact your local Community Action office. If you are unsure how to reach them, call us at 1-888-TEL-GMPC (1-888-835-4672).
